I download too many of these books, but I have only read a few of them. Every once in a while I check the top 100 free books list and download the ones that seem interesting to me. I am a sucker for free Kindle books on Amazon. This book, however, in my opinion, would be painful. Seuss is just good laugh out loud fun, I'll even concede that Harry Potter seems like the read with children sort, even if it's not my personal cuppa. There are brilliant books for this activity - The Hobbit, The Marvelous Land of Oz books, Dr. One of the most important things I look for in a children's book is whether I would enjoy reading it aloud to a child. The story's potential (and it wasn't a bad story,) was suffocated under this apparent assumption that the target reader would be a moderately dull-witted six year old, which is a shame. The entire time I was reading this, I felt like a Stepford mom was leaning over my shoulder reading, "and then, THIS happened, and then THIS happened, and THEN do you KNOW what that means little girl? Well, I will just have to tell you! Wheeee!" Why is it that some adults can write for children, and create a whole new world for the child to get lost in wonder, and others write as if "child" is synonymous with "stupid?" The eldest, Lengar, the warrior, harnesses his murderous ambition to be a ruler and take great power for his tribe. The three sons of Ratharryn's chief each perceive the great gift in a different way. One summer's day, a dying stranger carrying great wealth in gold comes to the settlement of Ratharryn. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure. Winner of the Gold Medallion Book Award and twice nominated for the Christian Book of the Year Award, Strobel's tough, point-blank questions read like a captivating, fast-paced novel. Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event?.Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible?. In this revised and updated bestseller, The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools such as Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis, asking hard-hitting questions - and building a captivating case for Christ's divinity. Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? Former atheist and Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel takes an investigative look at the evidence from the fields of science, philosophy, and history. Specializing in the mathematical calculation of human behaviour, especially in large masses, the science predicts an imminent collapse of the empire, followed by an age of darkness and barbarism set to last approximately thirty thousand years. However, one man sees the inevitable, and his name is Hari Seldon, founder of the science dubbed “Psychohistory”. The galactic empire feels boundless and is seemingly incapable of failure. Humanity has advanced to the point of easy space travel, force fields, energy blasters, and all the rest such a level of technology entails. Marking the beginning of the Foundation series, the first novel sets the stage for the great struggle to come in the future. Nevertheless, this is exactly what our civilization is facing in Isaac Asimov‘s timeless pioneering novel of hard science-fiction, titled Foundation. For all the forward momentum humanity is gaining with its ever more wondrous scientific discoveries, it’s difficult (but mind you, not impossible) to imagine a scenario where we collectively start to move in the opposite direction.
